Role at SGF: Program Co-Ordinator; I mostly focus on the digital aspects of Sustainable Georgia Futures. That includes photography, digital flyers, communications etc etc. I got involved with SGF because I want to make a difference in the green energy industry, and I want to do something to combat the ongoing and oncoming effects of climate change. A personal fact about me is that photography is the main thing that keeps me going. I got involved with it in 2020 and I haven’t stopped since. I find that it makes me feel grounded and centered whenever I’m taking a picture or editing something as well. It’s the one majorly consistent thing in my life that brings me an unending purpose.
I personally believe that life is about going through hard times and experiencing moments of joy and happiness. The most important thing to me right now is maintaining who I am as a person. Absolute love with no conditions does not exist, and the notion or idea that it’s possible is just as dangerous as someone who has nothing to offer but absolute hate. Compromising yourself and giving parts of yourself towards people or systems that cannot appreciate what you sacrifice or give unto them — is foolish. Love that is worth fighting for will come at a cost, yes, but I also try to remember that utilizing my anger to protect not only myself but to push back against injustice, to protect my community is also essential. There must be balance between anger and love, maintaining individuality while also not losing sense of who you are, is key. That is my belief. Systems that came before are falling apart; it’s time to build something new for a new era. Which is exactly what I believe SGF is striving towards.
